Bryan Fogel (Playwright): The following is the transcript of the phone conversation between Bryan and Sam that occurred on
March 13, 2003, at 11:53 p.m. before Jewtopia premiered on May 8, 2003 in Los Angeles. Sam: Hello? Bryan: Dude, I’m screwed! I’ve been working on this bio all night and I can’t come up with anything!
S: I’ve seen your resume. You’ve done a ton of stuff. B: Lies! All lies! S: What about Eyes Wide Shut? B: That wasn’t the movie! That was a dramatic recreation of a first year USC student film! I still haven’t gotten the tape! S: Weren’t you a theatre major at the University of Colorado? B: I think so. I was too stoned to remember any of it. S: What about the play I saw you in? You were great! B: Esperanto? I was an Argentinean surgeon dissecting a corpse! And you were the only one who came! Jesus, Sam! Do you realize the kind of credits everybody else has that’s involved with our show? What the hell are they doing with us? S: Bryan, calm down… B: How am I supposed to book anything? My agent is operating out of a Motel 6 in
Tarzana!
S: Look, we’ve fooled everybody so far. What’s there to worry about?

Sam Wolfson (Playwright): The following is the transcript of the phone conversation between Sam and Bryan three hours later as Sam sat down to write his bio. Bryan: (waking up) Hello? Sam: You’re right! We’re dead. We’re so dead. B: What time is it? S: It’s three in the morning and I got nothing! B: Can we just talk about this tomorrow? I’ve got a Cool Ranch Doritos callback at like,9:00 a.m. S: Tell me! What have I done? B: I don’t know, man. What have you done? S: I studied theatre at Northwestern. That’s gotta count for something. B: Yeah, 80 grand in the toilet. Do you think when you audition for a sitcom they want to see your monologue from Agamemnon? S: Oh, that’s good, I can put that. What about high school plays? In ninth grade, I was a wicked Ichabod Crane. B: Dude, I gotta get some sleep. I’m packing down handfuls of Cool Ranch Doritos in six hours. Besides, none of it matters anyway. Look at Colin Farrell. He went to bed one night, woke up the next day and he was famous. Just take a couple Xanax and we’ll talk tomorrow. S: How about that extra work I did on “Jag.” Does that count?

Mercury Theater :The Mercury Theater is one of Chicago’s best modern commercial theater venues. The intimate 300-seat theater houses a variety of theatrical entertainment including Broadway touring companies, local theater productions, music and dance showcases, as well as late night series and children’s theater. Since opening in February 1996, The Mercury Theater has received high accolades from all the major news media including the Chicago Tribune, the Sun-Times, ABC, NBC, and FOX 32, just to name a few. The building in which the Mercury is housed was known as the Blaine Nickelodeon in 1913. Since then it has housed a variety ofdifferent businesses from a carpet cleaning factory to a clothing department store. When the current owners purchased the building, they decided to revert the space to a place of entertainment not only for the neighborhood, but for the Chicago area. The producers are committed to presenting the highest quality of theater in every sense and form. The theater, designed by Lisec and Beiderman, combines contemporary elegance with a classical flavor. The designers chose to use a continental style seating (no center aisle) and chose to restore seats that were found in a 1933 vaudevillian house in Boston.
